Chemical Peels, What Are They?
Chemical Skin Peels help improve and refine the texture of the skin smoothing away fine lines, wrinkles, blemishes and dark spots. They can be applied to the face, neck, hands, décolletage and body. Peels boost production of collagen and elastin by promoting cell renewal. AHAs (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) is used, which are derived from fruits or plants.
A session lasts between 15 and 30 minutes and takes place as follows: cleaning, application of the peel, and neutralisation. Some peels are performed as a series of 4 or 6 sessions, which take place over the course of several weeks. Light peels (Glycolic) can reduce age spots, rough skin and slightly diminish fine lines. Medium Peels commonly done with Tri-Chloroacetic acid (TCA) achieve similar results but can reduce acne scars and fine wrinkles.
