Anti-Wrinkle Injection Procedures Guisborough

Botox is used to treat frown (glabellar) lines between the eyebrows, horizontal forehead lines, crows feet, lip wrinkles and neck lines as well as treating excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis).

Botox can also be used to reposition or lift the eyebrows by a few millimetres. This is sometimes called a “chemical brow lift”. It can also lessen so-called “bunny lines” (lines along the top of the nose caused when some people smile).

Botox can also be used to treat all wrinkles which are the result of normal facial movement. It is not suitable for permanent wrinkles caused by excessive exposure to the sun.

How Does Botox Work & How Long Will it Last?

Nerve endings release chemical substances such as acetylcholine, which transmits contraction information to the muscle. Botox is a type A botulinum toxin whose role is to temporarily block the release of acetylcholine. The muscle is then relaxed and the wrinkle is reduced.

Botox does not remove wrinkles indefinitely, it is usually necessary to have a treatment every three to six months to maintain and improve upon the original results. For more information on Botox procedures, then don’t hesitate to contact Nunthorpe Aesthetics today.

What Happens During a Botox Treatment?

Aesthetic nurse practitioner, Denise Lunn will take a look at your medical history to make sure you are suitable for treatment. You will then be asked to sign a consent form indicating that you have understood the treatment and the potential side effects. On your first botox treatment photographs will be taken for your medical records. The area to be injected will be cleaned with an antiseptic cleanser, then using micro needles tiny amounts of botox will be injected into the muscle.

Does the Treatment Hurt?

Most people find the procedure relatively painless however if required a numbing cream can be applied prior to treatment. Immediately after the treatment, you may notice some redness and bumps around the injection point but these will usually settle within minutes. You can resume your normal activities immediately after the procedure.
